Description
Mammy hated being cold during the winter and loved an Aran Cardigan for keeping warm! I named Mammy’s Love after her so decided to design one with the same pattern. It was only right and proper. She has a jumper on underneath which she refused to take off for this photograph, but it fits her perfectly. Val kindly agreed to knit it up for her as she is so fast on the needles and I asked her to make it longer as Mammy likes her bum covered!! Adore this woman and thank you so much Val xx
My Irish roots have inspired my love of the Aran style of knitting and I have introduced a modern twist to my creations. Some experience is required to knit this beautiful pattern and it is suitable for either a boy or girl.
Size Guide: The pattern for a Jacket has instructions to to fit 32″ to 42″ chest and the end product is larger as it is a jacket. Easily adapted if you require it longer.
Wool & yarn recommendation…
I often get asked which wool I use and who my yarn supplier is! For this knit I have used Stylecraft Special Aran which I selected for its softness, it is very gentle on a baby’s skin. There are over 88 different shades available through LoveCrafts, who are my preferred yarn and wool supplier. (Spend over £25 to get free P&P and sign up their newsletter for 15% off your first order!)… I would also recommend Paintbox Aran for this pattern.

Absolutely love this pattern, and they way the cable is love hearts 💕. I have just completed it for my mums birthday and the name of the pattered just makes it that more special. She loves a cardigan and when she seen the pattern she loved it and said ‘it just looks so cosy’, and I have to agree with her it is.
The pattern is written in a way which is easy to understand and follow. It knits up really quick.
I have a feeling I’ll be getting a call for another one or two in a different colours.

I knit this recently for my mum.I knew it would be perfect for her because she loves an Aran knit and prefers a cardigan to a sweater.I found the pattern well written and easy to follow and the finished product is just stunning.Mum is delighted with it – she says the detail on it is particularly eye-catching.I’d definitely recommend this to both more experienced knitters as well as beginners looking for a challenge. There’s enough detail in the pattern to keep advanced knitters happy yet not too daunting for improving beginners.

I just finished this cardigan for myself , such a well written and easy to follow pattern, I have done many of Donna’s pattern and they are all lovely to do , my wee mammy has just the right amount of cable and I like there’s no cable on the back 💕
