Description
Ger was the long term partner of my dearest friend Mary Glavin. Ger passed away in August 2019 after a long and painful illness. They latterly lived in Skibbereen, Co Cork but I knew Ger back in the days when my dad had his pub in Crosshaven and he came in for a few pints with his fellow fishermen. Ger loved the sea and fishing was not only his livelihood, it was his passion. A quiet man, he loved the bones of Mary. Again the name came to me when I was knitting this set as he was a true fisherman through and through.
My Irish roots have inspired my love of knitting and I have introduced a modern twist to my creations.
Size Guide: The pattern contains instructions to knit jumper and beret to fit 16″, 18″, 20″, and 22″ chest. Finished sizing are these measurements as seater is fitted.
Wool & yarn recommendation…
I often get asked which wool I use and who my yarn supplier is! For this knit I have used Stylecraft Special Double Knitting which I selected for its softness, it is very gentle on a baby’s skin. There are over 88 different shades available through LoveCrafts, who are my preferred yarn and wool supplier. (Spend over £25 to get free P&P and sign up their newsletter for 15% off your first order!)… I would also recommend Paintbox DK for this pattern.

I have copied this colours to knit the hat and the sweater. It is a wonderful knit. I wanted shorts with it so I have knit the shorts from Donna’s Stephen pattern and added two boat decals on one leg. I can’t wait to knit this set again.

What an amazing pattern. It has a lovely sailor collar. Made two for twin boys due in May. Their parents support a team that play in red and white. An absolute delight to knit.
